After using a Snapdragon chip exclusively last year for the Galaxy S23 series, Samsung brought back Exynos chips this year for the Galaxy S24. So, some consumers naturally had doubts regarding the performance of the Exynos 2400 processor, going by the poor track record of previous-generation Exynos chips in terms of performance, thermal throttling, overheating, and power efficiency. However, it looks like Samsung might actually have a winner on its hands with the Exynos 2400.

Exynos 2400 vs. Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 GPU performance in gaming tests comes with good news

In an intensive gaming test performed by YouTuber NL Tech, the Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24+ with the Exynos 2400 processor appear to perform as well as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor in heavy games like Genshin Impact. Yes, you've read that right, and you're not dreaming. I watched it again to confirm that the Exynos 2400 processor held its own and performed really well in the Genshin Impact gaming test compared to the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 For the Galaxy processor. Watch the GPU performance of the Xclipse 940 GPU inside the Exynos 2400 processor in the videos below.

What's great about the Exynos 2400 is that it doesn't overheat as previous-generation Exynos chips did, and the temperature of the Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24+ appear to be in a range similar to that of the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Whether it is frame rates or the temperature, the Exynos 2400 performed similarly to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 For Galaxy inside the Galaxy S24 Ultra. It could be a combination of the improved design that Exynos 2400 uses, its newer Xclipse 940 GPU (based on new AMD RDNA3), Samsung Foundry's third-generation 4nm chip fabrication process, and a bigger vapor chamber cooling system.

You can watch the gaming test of the Galaxy S24 Ultra in the video below. From what it appears from the first set of performance and gaming tests of the Exynos 2400 variants of the Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24+, you might not be at a disadvantage if you buy them compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 versions of the phones. At least there doesn't appear to be a noticeable performance or efficiency delta between the Exynos 2400 and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. However, a more correct way to test its performance is to compare it with the Snapdragon 8 Gen variant of the Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24+.
