Amidst all the One UI 6.1 hype, Samsung has not forgotten about its commitment to delivering timely security updates. Today, the device on the receiving end is the Galaxy M33 5G, which is getting a new security update in India.
The update comes with firmware version M336BUXXS6DXB1 and packs all the security fixes from the February 2024 patch. India is the only country to get the update as of February 22, and it will probably be a few weeks before the update is made available everywhere the M33 is sold.
The firmware version and the update's changelog reveal that it only brings security enhancements. The February 2024 security patch has been released for several Galaxy devices in the last three weeks and fixes a total of 72 vulnerabilities across Android and Samsung's custom version of the operating system.
The Galaxy M33 launched with Android 12 and One UI 4.1 in 2022 and is currently running Android 14 and One UI 6.0. It should get at least one more major OS upgrade, and in the near future, M33 owners can expect to get the One UI 6.1 update even though Samsung has only confirmed One UI 6.1 for flagship devices launched in 2023.
To download the February update on your M33, open its Settings app, select Software update, and tap Download and install. Try the process a few times if the update doesn't show up on the first attempt. You can also upgrade your phone by flashing the latest firmware, which you can find in our firmware library, using a Windows PC.
