In case you missed the recent news, Samsung intends to expand its Galaxy Tab lineup for 2024 with one more tablet. And according to every report and leak we've encountered, this upcoming device is another Galaxy Tab S6 Lite refresh.
Lately, this Galaxy Tab S6 Lite 2024 model is showing up online at a higher rate. It was only yesterday when the device, carrying model number SM-P625, was spotted at the FCC, rocking faster connectivity capabilities.
Today, the same tablet appeared on the BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certification website (via 91Mobiles), carrying model numbers SM-P620 and SM-P625. Confirming, once again, that the alleged Galaxy Tab S6 Lite 2024 refresh will be available in Wi-Fi-only and LTE variants.
The tablet's final name remains subject to change
The BIS website doesn't reveal anything new about the so-called Galaxy Tab S6 Lite 2024 and doesn't refer to this tablet by its tentative name — only its model numbers. However, as the tablet was certified by BIS, it confirms Samsung intends to release it in India.
As to whether or not this tablet will be called “Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024),” we'd say nothing is set in stone yet. It may be a true refresh of the original Tab S6 Lite (2020) or the Tab S6 Lite (2022), but so far, the FCC, BIS, and GCF have called this device by its model number rather than its market name. Likewise, on Geekbench, the tablet shows up as the “Samsung SM-P620.”
So, even if all evidence suggests that the SM-P620/SM-P625 is technically a refresh of an older model, there's nothing stopping Samsung from calling it the Galaxy Tab S9 Lite if it wants to. Nevertheless, calling it so wouldn't change the fact that this tablet appears to repurpose old hardware and throw in a few upgrades to make it more palatable for 2024.
For now, we'll keep calling this tablet the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024). As for other specs, benchmarks show that it features an Exynos 1280 chip, 4GB of RAM, and Android 14.
