Yet another Galaxy smartphone is receiving a standard security update instead of the update Samsung fans are impatiently waiting for. The Galaxy S21 series got the April 2024 security update recently instead of One UI 6.1, and that is now the case for the Galaxy S22 lineup as well.

The April update for the Galaxy S22 lineup has made its debut in the US. It is available for some carrier-locked units, including those on T-Mobile, and comes with firmware version S901USQS4DXD2, S906USQS4DXD2, and S908USQS4DXD2 for the S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra respectively.

As mentioned, this is not the One UI 6.1 update. One UI 6.1 could arrive on the Galaxy S22 and some other older flagships later this month, but Samsung has not provided any official confirmation. It's possible the update won't arrive until May, especially if Samsung decides to bring Galaxy AI features to the Galaxy S22 lineup.

Your phone may already have notified you that a new update is available, but if it hasn't, you can check manually by tapping the Download and install button in the phone's Settings » Software update menuAn alternative method to update is to download the latest firmware from our archives and install it on your S22, S22+, or S22 Ultra using a Windows PC and a USB-C cable.
