The update brings several Galaxy AI features, including Browser Assist, Chat Assist, Circle to Search, Interpreter Mode, and Note Assist. One UI 6.1 lets Galaxy Tab S8 users translate text found in the camera viewfinder, documents, and pictures. It also offers real-time two-way language translation during calls and in messages. The built-in Voice Recorder app offers language transcription and auto-tagging of people.
Samsung Keyboard offers grammar correction and language tone suggestions. One UI 6.1 can also generate wallpapers using Generative AI and text prompts from the user. Generative AI is also used in the built-in Photo Editor, allowing you to fix images with crooked angles, remove unwanted things from an image, clip objects more cleanly, and copy things from one image and paste into another.
You can watch all those features in action in our in-depth video below.
One UI 6.1 also brings an improved Photo Editor and a more feature-rich Samsung Studio video editor. It improves the search functionality in the Gallery app. You can export video editing project files from Samsung Studio to any other Galaxy device and continue editing videos on that device. One UI 6.1 also brings the new Quick Share feature (merged with Google's Nearby Share).
The new update also allows setting frames or effects for the wallpaper. You can use the depth-of-field effect with the wallpaper if it has a person/pet in it to make it stand out. You can customize alerts for alarms and reminders. You can set a custom background color or photo for those alerts. The Reminder app allows you to change the reminder category icon and pin frequently used categories for quicker access. The Calendar app now has a revamped settings page and can show up to two custom stickers for each day.
You can reorder Modes, turn off/on Modes from the home screen, and use more conditions for Routines (such as an alarm or Smart View connection). The One UI 6.1 update also brings the revamped Quick Share feature (merged with Google Nearby Share), web browser tab group syncing in Samsung Internet, and end-to-end encryption for Samsung Account. Samsung Wallet now supports passkeys for easier and safer login.
Samsung Health allows you to compete with your past workout records, set custom daily targets, and enter moods and physical symptoms for women's health tracking.
Quick setting toggles allow easier access to the microphone mode and video effects when a call is in progress. The Weather widget shows more information. You can use voice input to enter text without hiding the Samsung Keyboard. One UI 6.1 allows you to open all minimized app windows simultaneously. The Finder section shows matching search results from Google Search. One UI 6.1 also brings more battery health protection options.
