Samsung has unveiled SmartThings Pro. As its name suggests, it is a smart device platform that is a step above SmartThings and is meant for the business-to-business (B2B) segment, corporates, enterprises, and schools.
It will be released soon in South Korea and expanded globally before the end of this year.
SmartThings Pro is meant for businesses, office spaces, and schools
At the Infocomm 2024 expo in Las Vegas, USA, Samsung unveiled SmartThings Pro. The South Korean firm claims it is a hyper-connectivity platform that enables improved integration between smart devices and services. For example, it can be used to link and efficiently manage air conditioning, humidity control, lighting, security cameras, smart signage displays, temperature control, and TVs in a hotel or office space.
SmartThings Pro offers a dedicated dashboard view for checking each device's connection status through AI analysis. Moreover, its AI Energy Saving Mode can reduce the power consumption of devices like air conditioners and displays in a business environment.
Samsung's enterprise-grade smart device management platform will soon feature dedicated APIs that businesses and enterprises can use to integrate their systems into SmartThings Pro. Cisco's Control Hub will bring its popular video conferencing solution, while Aqara's integration will offer an improved experience for hotel guests. Samsung has also started working on integrating Quividi's cloud-based customer data analysis platform.
Park Chan-woo, Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ B2B Solutions Team, said, “We will further develop Samsung Electronics’ IoT solutions for the B2B market through SmartThings Pro. We will provide customized solutions optimized for everything from residential and commercial spaces to public facilities such as schools.”
At the Infocomm 2024 expo, Samsung also showcased its massive 420-inch display, The Wall. It is a modular Micro LED display with self-emissive pixels, perfect blacks, and extremely high brightness. Samsung also displayed its transparent Micro LED TV technology at the event. In the video below, you can watch the company's transparent Micro LED TV in action (from CES 2024).
SmartThings Pro is supported on smart digital signages and hotel TVs that run Tizen 7.0 (or higher), which was unveiled earlier this year at CES 2024.
