At Google I/O last month, Google announced many features for Android that prevent thieves from accessing a stolen device and data in it. The company said that it would roll out these features to devices running Android 10 and newer versions of the OS later this year. Of course, Google will test those features before releasing them to the public. The brand has now revealed that people in Brazil will be the first to test two of those features.
The two features we are talking about are called Theft Detection Lock and Offline Device Lock. Theft Detection Lock uses artificial intelligence (AI), and when it detects “a common motion associated with theft,” it automatically locks the device. In case the Theft Detection Lock feature fails, the Offline Device Lock feature comes into play. This feature locks your device “If a thief tries to disconnect your phone for prolonged periods of time.”

At the Google for Brazil 2024 event, Google announced that people in Brazil would be the first to test the two features. According to the company, the two features will be available as a beta to everyone in Brazil next month. To get notified when these features become available, you will have to fill out a form on this website.
When these features become available on your Galaxy phone or tablet, they will automatically lock your device when someone steals it or tries to take it off the grid by switching off the cellular network, internet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth. They will be very useful in Brazil where Google says “2 cell phones are stolen every minute.”
