Samsung’s last Galaxy Notes pick up another security update!

Nearly four years after launch, the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Samsung's last Note-branded smartphones, continue to receive regular security updates. This week, Samsung is bringing the June 2024 security update to the Note 20 duo.

The update is rolling out in the US to some carrier-locked units and in Europe. In both regions, the update can be identified by a build number with HFX1 as the last four characters.

Last year, Samsung exhausted all the Android and One UI upgrades the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra were eligible for, so the latest update comes with just security enhancements, as expected. The same will be true for the updates the two phones will get in the future and until the end of their support lifecycle.

Samsung will provide updates to the Galaxy Note 20 series for at least another year, similar to the Galaxy S20 series that launched in the same year. However, the frequency of updates will slow down later this year as the phones complete four years on the market.

Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra owners can download the latest update on their phones from its Settings » Software update menu. They can also download Galaxy Note 20 firmware from the SamMobile archives and use a Windows PC to install the firmware on the phone.
