While the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processors were announced a few days ago, Samsung is yet to launch its flagship mobile processor for 2022. Today, the company revealed that Samsung fans don't have to wait for much longer, and its next-generation Exynos processor will be unveiled next month.

The Exynos 2200 will be revealed on January 11, 2022. The company announced it through a tweet with the hashtag #PlaytimeIsOver. The company also announced that the next-generation flagship Exynos processor would feature AMD's RDNA2 GPU. The upcoming chipset will likely use the same 4nm fabrication process used by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

Samsung will use the Exynos 2200 chipset in the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra. While the company is promising that the Exynos 2200 features substantially improved gaming performance, its claims would mean much if the chipset is available in a handful of markets.

It is rumored that Samsung will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor in Galaxy S22 series devices that will launch in North America, China, and India. The European and South Korean variants of the Galaxy S22 will likely feature the Exynos 2200 processor.

Going by previous leaks, the Exynos 2200 will feature one Cortex-X2 CPU core, three Cortex-A710 CPU cores, and four Cortex-A510 CPU cores. It will feature the AMD RDNA2 GPU with HDR, ray-tracing, and variable rate shading features. The upcoming chip could also have an improved 5G modem, a better ISP, and improved AI processing.
