Samsung confirms Exynos 2200 launch delay, says chipset has no issues

There has been a lot of speculation recently about the Exynos 2200. This is Samsung's latest flagship processor that was to be introduced with the upcoming Galaxy S22 series. Samsung normally unveils its latest high-end chipset a month or so before the new flagship lineup is announced.

It had planned to do that this time around as well. The company had previously revealed that it would unveil the Exynos 2200 on January 11. That was yesterday and the chipset wasn't announced. Samsung has now confirmed that it has delayed the Exynos 2200 launch.

Samsung delays the Exynos 2200 launch without giving a solid reason

There were reports yesterday about Samsung delaying the launch of its Exynos 2200 chipset. It wasn't immediately clear why the company is taking this step. Samsung still hasn't provided any clarity on the matter.

The company has confirmed to media outlets in South Korea that it has put off the Exynos 2200 launch.

“We are planning to unveil the new application processor at the time of launching a new Samsung smartphone,” an official for Samsung Electronics was quoted as saying, adding that “There are no problems with the AP’s production and performance.”

This appears to be an attempt to discredit rumors about the Exynos 2200 not being used for the Galaxy S22 series at all. A tipster claimed yesterday that all Galaxy S22 variants across the globe will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. This would mean that the Exynos 2200 won't be used in Samsung's upcoming flagship lineup.

Samsung's own statement is vague at best. While it does say that the Exynos 2200 will be unveiled with a new smartphone, it doesn't necessarily mean that this will be the Galaxy S22. This could even mean that the Exynos 2200 will be unveiled when the new foldables are released later this year, but that's a long way in the future.

It remains to be seen how this all plays out. Something unusual is certainly going on here. We'll have to wait until next month to know for sure if the Exynos 2200 will indeed arrive with the Galaxy S22 series.
