When Samsung announced the Galaxy Watch 4 series last year, everyone was hopeful that it would bring Google Assistant to its new smartwatches. However, despite running Wear OS 3, the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic featured Bixby instead of Google Assistant. The South Korean firm had announced that it would bring Google Assistant to its new smartwatches in the future.

Earlier today, Samsung announced a major software update for the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. It brings improved workout tracking, sleep coaching, new watch faces and watch straps, and better motivation to achieve body composition targets. The update didn't include Google Assistant, though, and the South Korean firm said that Google Assistant would come with the next software update “in the coming months.

Samsung confirmed that Bixby and Google Assistant would both be available on the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. So, buyers can use the digital voice assistant that they prefer. The smartwatches even support Google Home and SmartThings-compatible smart home products such as smart lights, smart switches, TVs, speakers, cameras, and more.

The South Korean tech giant also confirmed that it would soon bring the functionality to stream YouTube Music via LTE and Wi-Fi to its new smartwatches. However, Samsung didn't provide any particular time frame when Google Assistant and YouTube Music are set to arrive on the Galaxy Watch 4 series.
