2021 was like any other year for Samsung. The Korean manufacturer launched a bazillion phones, some great, some good, and some not-so-good. And anyone who used the Galaxy A52s 5G would agree that it falls under the great category. In addition to all of the features that made the Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A52 5G so good, the Galaxy A52s was the fastest mid-range phone from Samsung last year, thanks to the Snapdragon 778G chip inside it.
Well, for many Galaxy A52s owners, that is no longer the case. According to reports on Samsung's forums, the Android 12 and One UI 4.0 update for the A52s 5G is riddled with various issues. Performance degradation is one of the chief issues owners of the device are facing after installing the update, with many seeing slower animations across the user interface and janky scrolling.
That's not all. Battery drain has reportedly increased for many users, even when the screen's high refresh rate is disabled. There are also minor bugs such as the proximity sensor not working and, as a result, keeping the screen on during calls. At least one user reports degraded speaker quality, as well.
The Android 12 and One UI 4.0 update was released for the Galaxy A52s 5G in early January and Samsung has yet to fix any of the issues the update introduced. Hopefully, the One UI 4.1 update that's rolling out for the Galaxy A52 series will do the needful and bring the user experience on Samsung's most powerful mid-range phone from 2021 back to what it was before Android 12 came knocking.
