The Galaxy A42 5G has received its second security update of 2024. The update brings the June 2024 security patch to the phone.
For a phone that launched four years back, it's not surprising that its latest update—which debuted in Europe this week—doesn't bring anything interesting.
Security enhancements is all it has to offer. The June 2024 patch fixes 59 security vulnerabilities discovered in Android and One UI. 22 of the vulnerabilities affect only Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

Possibly the final Galaxy A42 5G update
This will likely be the last update for the A42 5G. The phone is on a biannual security update schedule and received its first update of the year back in January. Next year, Samsung will drop official support for what is also the last device in the Galaxy A4x lineup.
At inception, the Galaxy A4x lineup was meant to offer mid-range phones in a compact size. Samsung launched two models with a compact display but then decided to go big with the third model, which is the Galaxy A42 5G.
