The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 launch is almost upon us, and more unofficial details are emerging online through different sources and third-party retailers. One new nugget of information comes from a European retailer, whose early Galaxy Z Flip 6 listing hints at a significant price increase.
According to this retailer (via SamInsider), the Galaxy Z Flip 6 with 256GB of storage will cost €1,339, while the 512GB variant will set us back €1,466.
For reference, last year, the 256GB Galaxy Z Flip 5 went on sale in Europe for €1,199, and the 512GB variant for €1,319. Could Samsung hike Galaxy Z Flip 6 prices in Europe as much as this retailer listing suggests?
Not the first rumor of a price increase
It's important to underline that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 pricing information above originates from a third-party retailer and not Samsung itself.
Usually, third-party retailers use placeholder prices for unreleased products until they become official, and these prices tend to have a margin of error and be higher than they should.
With that in mind, these prices might be an indication of what's to come, but they probably shouldn't be taken at face value. Even if the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will cost more, it might not cost as much as this rumor indicates.
Nevertheless, this isn't the first time we heard rumors of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 becoming more expensive than the Galaxy Z Flip 5 at launch.
Previously, we heard that the 256GB Galaxy Z Flip 6 will go on sale in the USA for $1,099 instead of $999. Similarly, the upcoming foldable phone would cost more in India and launch for INR 104,999 instead of INR 99,999.
More pricing details after the video…
It's worth remembering that Z Flip prices were higher in 2020 when the original model went on sale for $1,380. However, the Flip 3 lowered the price to $999, and that's been the base level since — at least in some markets.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 also launched for $999 despite having 256GB of base storage instead of 128GB. But in some regions, like India, it was slightly more expensive than the Flip 4 at release.
If the rumors are true, this could be the first time the Z Flip series gets pricier worldwide. We'll have to wait and see how accurately these third-party retailer prices will reflect Samsung's.
