Samsung Health is among the most versatile fitness and health-tracking systems available for smartphones. Samsung plans to improve it further soon by introducing health data sharing for family members, making it easier to monitor children's or elderly people's health.

Samsung Health to get family health data sharing

It appears that Samsung is bringing the family health data sharing feature to Samsung Health. A report from the Android Authority reveals that Samsung will soon offer the option to share the health data of one user from Samsung Health with others (like family members). For example, parents can track their children's or elderly family members' health data.

However, users don't need to worry about the privacy of their health data, as there are approval processes in place to ensure that only authorized users can access that data. Moreover, users who are sharing their data with family members can stop sharing whenever they want or change what and how much data they want to share. The leaked screenshots show that children (or elderly people) need to have a Galaxy phone to share health data from their Galaxy Watch.

The story continues after our Galaxy Watch 6 Classic review video below.

Users can preview how their health data appears before sharing it with others. Access to children's health data requires consent from their parent's (or guardian's) account. If there is an extended period of inactivity, shared health data will be automatically deleted, and sharing will be stopped.

From the report, it appears that the upcoming feature won't be limited to the upcoming Galaxy Ring or Galaxy Watch. So, it is likely that the feature will be released to older Galaxy Watches (likely from Galaxy Watch 4 and newer) as well.
