Samsung's Unpacked event is going to take place in Paris, France, tomorrow. The city is a global fashion powerhouse and the home to Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH), the massive luxury conglomerate that owners iconic brands like Louis Vuitton, Moët Hennessy, Tiffany, Dior, Loro Piana, and many others.
A rumor had been floating online in recent weeks about a potential collaboration between Samsung and LVMH on a phone. There were also claims of it being branded as an “Olympic” device, considering that the Olympics are due to begin in Paris soon as well. However, Samsung has now officially denied making a phone with LVMH.
Samsung denies reports of a collaboration with LVMH
It was initially reported by a local news outlet that Samsung and LVMH will release a special edition of an upcoming foldable phone with a theme based on one of the 30 odd luxury brands owned by LVMH.Samsung has officially denied reports about launching a special edition device at Unpacked tomorrow in collaboration with LVMH.
An official for the company has confirmed to Korean media that Samsung isn't working with any partner on an “Olympic phone,” while also declining to further comment on the possible launch of an Olympic-themed phone. It's pertinent to note that Samsung has long been a global sponsor of the Olympics.
It's not uncommon for Samsung to partner with luxury brands on themed phones. It has launched Thom Browne Editions of the Galaxy Z Flip foldables over the years, so it was entirely plausible that Samsung would go for such a collaboration with LVMH when holding its first Unpacked event in Paris, but that doesn't appear to be the case.
