While Samsung's wearable devices usually work with non-Samsung Android smartphones, some of their features are exclusive to Galaxy smartphones and tablets. However, Samsung made the Galaxy Ring look like it only works with Galaxy smartphones. That doesn't appear to be the case, though.
Galaxy Ring is compatible with non-Samsung Android phones
During the announcement of the Galaxy Ring, Samsung talked in a way that made people believe that it only works with Samsung's own Galaxy smartphones. Even some terms and conditions on the company's product webpage might make you believe that the Galaxy Ring only works with Galaxy phones. However, it has been revealed that the smart ring works with non-Samsung Android smartphones.
YouTuber M. Brandon Lee showcased the Galaxy Ring working with an Android phone from Nothing. All you need to do is install the Galaxy Wearable app from the Google Play Store and go through the setup process. During the setup process, you likely need to install Samsung Health and SmartThings.
One industry insider was even told that the Galaxy Ring would support iPhones but at a later stage.
As usual, some features don't work unless you pair the Galaxy Ring with a Galaxy AI smartphone. According to Samsung's terms and conditions, those features include Energy Score and Galaxy AI health recommendations. So, if those features aren't important to you and you have a non-Galaxy Android phone, you can buy a Galaxy Ring and use it with your smartphone.

What can Galaxy Ring do?
The Galaxy Ring is a lightweight smart ring made using titanium. It has health sensors (accelerometer, BioActive Sensor, and temperature sensor) on the inside that can measure and track your heart rate, sleep (duration, quality, and stages), temperature, and workouts. It lacks GPS, though, so outdoor workouts won't be accurate.
The Galaxy Ring gives you an Energy Score daily based on your sleep, temperature, and workouts. Based on that score, you can decide whether it is a good day to work out and accomplish your fitness goals. It has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance (10ATM), which means you can take it swimming up to 100 meters of depth.
The ring lasts 6-7 days on a single charge and charges via a charging cradle that has a USB Type-C charging port. Samsung sells the Galaxy Ring in three colors—Titanium Black, Titanium Gold, and Titanium Silver—and comes in nine sizes (US sizes 5-13). It is priced at $400 in the USA.
