Samsung's most premium mid-range phone of 2024, the Galaxy A55, has received a new software update this week. This update brings the latest security patch to the phone.
The September 2024 security patch is all that's new in this update. Nothing else will change once it is installed on your Galaxy A55. You can identify the update by the build number A556BXXS4AXH4. Its rollout began in Europe, and it should expand to more regions in the coming weeks.
The September 2024 security patch fixes 67 vulnerabilities found in Android and One UI. 44 of these fixes apply to all Android devices while 23 fixes are exclusively for vulnerabilities affecting Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
To download new updates on your Galaxy A55, open its Settings app, navigate to Software update, then tap the Download and install option. You can also download Galaxy A55 firmware from SamMobile. These firmware can be installed on the phone using a Windows if you wish to manually upgrade it to the latest software.
The Galaxy A55 (review) launched in March this year running Android 14 and One UI 6.1 and became the first Samsung phone to support Android's seamless updates feature. The Galaxy A55 will likely go directly to One UI 7.0 (Android 15) instead of getting the One UI 6.1.1 update that started rolling out to flagship Galaxy smartphones this week, as it doesn't support any Galaxy AI features.
Samsung did bring the Circle to Search feature to the Galaxy A55 a few weeks back, but Circle to Search is designed by Google and isn't exclusive to Galaxy devices.
