Samsung had some fantastic news for smart home users earlier this week, as the company announced the integration of IKEA smart home devices with its SmartThings platform.

This unification, made possible through the Matter Bridge, brings many benefits to SmartThings users with IKEA smart home setups.

The goal of Matter is to simplify the IoT (Internet of Things) landscape and help users transfer smart home settings from one ecosystem to another. This IKEA partnership is another perfect example of how SmartThings continues to benefit from getting Matter support two years ago.

How this benefits IKEA smart home users

This new partnership brings several benefits and new possibilities. Now that IKEA smart home products are compatible with SmartThings through Matter, Samsung device users can view their IKEA smart home devices on the 3D Map View in SmartThings.

The 3D Map View feature for SmartThings is available not just on Galaxy phones and tablets but also on Samsung smart TVs and Family Hub refrigerators.

The story continues after the video

One other great advantage to bringing IKEA with SmartThings through Matter is that users can seamlessly transition between ecosystems and import their existing IKEA device configurations to SmartThings.

More so, they can connect their IKEA smart home products with multiple ecosystems at the same time even as they integrate them with SmartThings.
