Samsung appears to be busy working on smartphones that it plans to launch next year. Alongside the Galaxy S25, Samsung is also expected to launch the Galaxy A36 and the Galaxy A56 early next year. The company has now made a move that makes us believe it has begun seriously working on the Galaxy A56.

Galaxy A56 appears again with its model number

The Galaxy A56 has appeared in the IMEI database, as spotted by SmartPrix. As you can see in the image below, the phone's official marketing name and model number (SM-A566B/DS) have been revealed through the IMEI database. We can understand from its model number that the phone has 5G connectivity and a dual-SIM card slot.

The upcoming mid-range phone will use the Exynos 1580 chipset (model number: s5e8855), which was spotted two months ago. This chipset will bring a huge performance boost to the Galaxy A56, as it features newer CPU cores from ARM and an AMD GPU. It is likely a 4nm or 5nm chip with four Cortex-A720 CPU cores and four Cortex-A520 CPU cores. One of those Cortex-A720 CPU cores is clocked at 2.91GHz, while the other three appear to be clocked at 2.6GHz. The four Cortex-A520 cores are clocked at 1.95GHz.

In comparison, the Exynos 1480 chipset used in the Galaxy A55 uses four Cortex-A78 CPU cores and four Cortex-A55 CPU cores, which are much older CPU cores compared to the ones found in the Exynos 1580. The Galaxy A56 will likely feature a newer-generation Xclipse GPU based on the AMD RDNA2 architecture.

What to expect from Galaxy A56?

Overall, the Galaxy A56 will likely feature much better performance, thanks to its new CPU and GPU. Going by the chip's Geekbench (5.5.1) scores, the Exynos 1580 should be as powerful as the Snapdragon 888, the fastest processor for Android smartphones in 2021. So, it will be powerful enough to play high-end games with smooth frame rates.

The Galaxy A55 already features a premium design with a glass front and back and a metal frame. It also features stereo speakers, an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, and an in-display fingerprint reader. So, the Galaxy A56 should also have the same features. Samsung should now ideally focus on reducing the bezels, making the screen brighter, and bringing 4K 60fps video recording.
