On Android devices, you can share your (device’s) live location in many ways. One of them is to use the Google Maps app. Well, Google is now working on adding the same feature to Android. In other words, it is working on allowing you to share your (device’s) location right from Android’s settings menu. Here’s our first look at it.

According to @AssembleDebug, the latest version of the Google Play Services offers  a new page in Settings » Google » All Services called ‘Google Location Sharing’. On this page, you will find a toggle to turn ‘Use Location Sharing’ on and off.

Once you turn it on, you will get an option to copy a link of your live location. You can then share that link with people and they will be able to track you on Google Maps.

Right below that, you will also see all the people who have access to your location. Plus, when you turn on this feature, Android will show you a notification informing you that you are now sharing your location.

The story continues after the video…

We are not seeing the new feature on our Galaxy S23 or Galaxy M35 in India yet. So, it looks like the company is rolling out this feature in phases. So, we will have to wait for a few days for it to appear. At the moment, there’s also no information about what will happen to Google Maps’ option for sharing live location once Android's in-built location sharing feature arrives.
