One reason Samsung notification AI summaries could beat Apple’s

Samsung is reportedly preparing to release a new Galaxy AI tool capable of summarizing notifications for its users. This feature, which the Korean tech giant could introduce with One UI 7.0, recently became the talk of the town because it seems to borrow from Apple. Here's the kicker. Samsung is probably going to do it better.

Notification summaries in iOS are a part of the Apple Intelligence suite. The latter is only available in English as of this writing, with Apple promising support for a handful of others in 2025.

Samsung, on the other hand, offers Galaxy AI in multiple languages, which likely means that if notification summaries are added to One UI, they should be supported by more than English.

According to a new rumor (via @chunvn8888), Samsung notification summaries will be available in a handful of languages, including at least English, Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Japanese, and French.

If we were to guess, we'd say notification summaries will be available in every language Galaxy AI supports. Samsung offers Galaxy AI in 20 languages and a variety of dialects, with more to come later on.

Of the two companies — Samsung and Apple — it seems like Samsung really is striving to democratize generative AI and bring AI-based tools to as many people as possible, in as many regions and languages as it can.

Right now, the list of Galaxy AI tools that are based on language recognition (rather than, say, image processing) includes:

Still, Samsung hasn't confirmed anything about AI-based notifications yet, so we should wait and see what happens before we get too carried away. The One UI 7.0 update is said to go live for the public next year, although a beta version could be released as early as next week.
