Samsung's flagship projector, The Premiere 8K, is the world's first 8K projector to get the 8K Association Certification. The ultra-short throw projector was announced at CES 2023 but hasn't gone on sale in most countries worldwide.

The Premiere 8K is the world's first projector to get 8K Association Certification

On December 10, the 8K Association, a consortium of technology companies that are dedicated to improving the 8K standard, announced the 8K Association Certification. It takes into account 8K resolution (7,680 x 4,320 pixels), brightness, color gamut, contrast, HDR, audio, and 8K upscaling before awarding the certification.

The Premiere 8K became the world's first projector to get the 8K Association Certification because it qualifies on all those metrics mentioned above.

Samsung's flagship projector uses a short-throw lens (using advanced aspherical mirrors) to eliminate the need for ceiling mounts and other complex setups. It can be set up on a table just a few feet away from the wall or the projection screen to display up to 150-inch video.

It is also a wireless projector, so there is no need for additional cables when setting up The Premiere 8K. It can generate up to 4,500 ANSI Lumens of brightness to reproduce stunning HDR content. It also features Sound-On-Screen technology that uses the onboard speaker and software algorithm for immersive audio.

The Premiere 8K runs Tizen OS and offers access to all the popular audio and video streaming apps. It also features Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Alexa, Bixby, and SmartThings.

Taeyoung Son, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, said, “The Premiere 8K receiving the industry’s first 8KA certification is a major milestone as it officially demonstrates the new potential of projector technology. We are committed to expanding the 8K ecosystem by continuously and extensively integrating new technologies.
