Although more than a couple of dozen Galaxy smartphones have received the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update over the past couple of months, the Galaxy A02s isn't that lucky. In fact, the phone started getting the one-year older Android 12 update a few days ago. Now, the carrier-locked model of the phone has started getting the Android 12 update in the US.
The Android 12 update for the Galaxy A02s comes with firmware version A025USQU1CVK2 in the US. The update is available for the carrier-locked version of the phone and brings the September 2022 security patch, which is two months old now. Still, it is a welcome change. The carrier-unlocked version of the smartphone still hasn't started getting the update, but we expect it to get updated within the next few days.
If you have the carrier-locked model of the Galaxy A02s in the US, you can now download the new software update on the smartphone by heading to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.
Samsung launched the Galaxy A02s in late 2020 with Android 10 onboard. The smartphone received the Android 11-based One UI Core 3.1 update in mid-2021, and the Android 12-based One UI Core 4.1 could be its last major Android OS update.
