Earlier this month at the event for the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 edge+ Samsung confirmed that its much awaited round smartwatch is called the Gear S2 and that it will be formally unveiled next month at IFA 2015. There had been whispers previously of the Gear S2 Classic but Samsung didn't say anything about it during the event, the company's trademark application for “Gear S2 Classic” has been spotted which makes it highly likely that there will be two variants of the upcoming wearable device.
Samsung did provide a hint at two possible variants of the upcoming smartwatch in the Lookbook it released recently which teased the Gear S2's design, and the fact that the name Gear S2 Classic has already been discovered in the source code of Samsung's website. This trademark application from South Korea serves as more evidence but unfortunately didn't reveal much about the differences between these two models, we'll have to wait until IFA 2015 to find out for sure.
