After the Stagefright vulnerability caused a lot of concern for Android users, Google committed to releasing monthly security updates for its mobile OS, and OEMs like Samsung committed to that as well. The company now details the upcoming security update at the start of each month and today it has revealed what the September Security Maintenance Release brings to the table. It's imperative for users to install the update as soon as it lands on their handsets to ensure that they are always protected against software vulnerabilities.

The September 2016 SMR includes patches from both Google and Samsung. All of the 66 latest patches from Google are included in this update. Samsung itself patched nine vulnerabilities to further improve the security of its mobile devices. Samsung has detailed each of these nine fixes on its dedicated security blog. Users across the globe will start receiving the latest security update from Samsung in the near future, the company has already rolled it out in some European markets.
