Oculus has updated its Gear VR platform to enable those who own this Samsung virtual reality headset to stream their gameplay sessions directly to Facebook Live. The Facebook-owned company says that the idea behind this feature is to “share the magic” of virtual reality with your friends and family since it can be a bit difficult to describe what it feels like to someone who has never experienced VR before.
So how do you go about sharing gameplay from Gear VR to Facebook Live? It's very simple. Select the “Livestream to Facebook” button from the Universal Menu when you're playing a game in VR. This will instantly start livestreaming to your friends on Facebook. They will see your VR gameplay livestream from the Samsung Gear VR straight in their News Feed.
Oculus does mention in its blog post that this feature is currently available to those who own a Gear VR outside the United States. The feature will be released for everyone with the latest version of Android on their Gear VR-compatible Samsung phone in the coming weeks.
