Minor Samsung Gear S3 frontier update rolling out

Samsung is rolling out a new software update to the Gear S3 frontier, with the update having a single new feature that should nevertheless be useful for a lot of users. The smartwatch now supports vibration notifications for third-party messaging apps, which means notifications in apps like WhatsApp should be even easier to notice. The latest Gear S3 frontier update (a small 7 MB download) is rolling out in the US and should be making its way to other regions in the near future.

The Gear S3 frontier has seen regular support from Samsung, although the Korean giant did take its time fixing an S Voice issue that had been introduced to the smartwatch with a prior update. The latest update comes just as Samsung is gearing up to launch the Gear Sport at IFA, something the company had confirmed at the launch of the Galaxy Note 8. Hopefully, this support will continue even after the Gear S3's successor goes on sale.
