The Galaxy S5 Neo Blueborne fix has been released today. Samsung rolled out a similar fix for the Galaxy S5 recently. Samsung updated the handset to Android 7.0 Nougat just last month. The August security patch for the Galaxy S5 Neo also arrived last month.

This latest update only brings the Blueborne fix for this handset. The security patch level has been retained at August 2017. No new features and tweaks are included in this firmware update.

Galaxy S5 Blueborne fix

Blueborne is a Bluetooth-based vulnerability that was recently discovered. It affects Android, Windows and some iOS devices. Samsung has spent the last few weeks rolling out Blueborne fixes for its most popular models.

The Galaxy S5 Neo Blueborne fix will prevent attackers from exploiting this vulnerability. They can do that to gain access to the device without the user even knowing. The vulnerability can be used for malicious code execution which means data can be stolen from the device.

Samsung is now rolling out firmware version G903FXXS1BQI2 for the Galaxy S5 Neo. It's rolling out over-the-air and is also available for download from our firmware section.

There's still no clarity on the Nougat update for this handset in Europe. Samsung has released Nougat for the Galaxy S5 Neo elsewhere but it's not out in Europe yet.
