Apple will make the Vision Pro available to purchase on 2 February 2024. According to a new post from Ming-Chi Kuo on X, the company will produce only 60,000 to 80,000 units of the mixed-reality headset for the day of the release. The analyst says that since that is not a large number of units, the Vision Pro will sell out soon after the release.
Kuo says that Apple has not defined the use case for the Vision Pro clearly and the mixed-reality headset is very costly. However, the analyst predicts that people will still buy the product because of two reasons. The first is the user experience, where the headset will give people the illusion that they can control it with their minds, which is enabled by groundbreaking technologies. Second is Apple’s very strong fan base.
Apple has priced the Vision Pro at USD 3,499. That amount of money is way too high for the majority of people to spend on a product that doesn’t replace any gadget and isn’t very useful in day-to-day life. So, there will be very few who will buy the Vision Pro. Apple knows that and that’s probably why it is making the Vision Pro in very few numbers. The upcoming affordable version of the Vision Pro could sell in higher numbers.
