Apple's first Vision Pro mixed reality headset may have failed to change the world due to its high price and relatively undercooked feature set. Even so, the Vision Pro seemingly marks the beginning of a new device category for Apple. In other words, it might not be a one-off device but the start of a new series that could gradually start leaving a bigger mark on the tech world. And Apple is reportedly already working on a sequel.
The Vision Pro's high price might be one of its highest barriers, but according to a new rumor, the 2nd generation Apple Vision Pro will be cheaper. It may cost between $1,500 and $2,500 (via Revegnus1). The ongoing 1st Gen. Vision Pro starts at $3,500.
Apple will likely have to lower the Vision Pro 2's price as more companies, including Samsung, will enter the mixed-reality market space. Samsung, Google, and Qualcomm have been working on a new XR headset of their own, and Samsung or Google might unveil it later this year for a price lower than $3,500.
Samsung to supply Vision Pro 2 memory
According to the same rumor, Samsung will be supplying Apple with more components for the 2nd generation Vision Pro. Specifically, the Korean tech giant will supply LLW DRAM.
Other rumors also indicate that the Vision Pro 2's display could be supplied by Samsung Display. The ongoing model uses Sony micro-OLED panels. However, Samsung's display division has been making preparations for the emerging VR market and is reportedly ready to produce OLEDoS (OLED on Silicon) panels.

As for the Vision Pro 2's price, if the reports are correct, it remains to be seen how Apple will lower the 2nd generation's costs. Aside from streamlining the supply chain and offsetting costs through higher production output and demand, one theory is that Apple could make the Vision Pro 2 cheaper by abandoning the EyeSight outward screen.
On the other hand, the EyeSight panel is one of the Vision Pro's more unique features and a primary marketing tool for Apple, so the company might not want to get rid of it anytime soon. Either way, if there's any truth to the latest rumor, the Vision Pro 2 will go on sale in 2026.
