Apple's switch to OLED panels for its entire tablet lineup has been in the news for a couple of years now. The company was reportedly going to source OLED panels for the iPad Pro and iPad mini primarily from Samsung.

A new report indicates that the iPad Air might also adopt OLED panels next year, with Samsung Display emerging as the main supplier of these panels.

It may be launched in the first half of next year

According to the report out of South Korea, Samsung Display will start mass production of iPad Air OLED panels by the end of this year. This would suggest that Apple's first OLED iPad Air may be launched in 2027.

It's unclear if Apple would stick to the same release cycle that it always has for its new tablets. The report claims that the OLED iPad Air could be released in the first half of next year, around March or May 2027.

If Apple does indeed end up making this switch, it would then be the first time that its entire tablet lineup will be equipped with OLED panels that are primarily supplied by Samsung.

Since the iPad Air tends to sell more units compared to the more expensive iPad Pro, Samsung Display would thus be tasked with supplying a higher number of OLED panels for this tablet compared to the iPad Pro.

Samsung Display is an important supplier for Apple. Beyond these devices, the company is also reportedly going to supply OLED panels for the MacBook Pro set to be released later this year.
