Apple's limited iPhone Fold launch will be a gift for Samsung

Apple is expected to announce its first foldable iPhone later this week, but the device may not be released across the globe in the near future.

Latest reports suggest that Apple may opt for a limited iPhone Fold launch in North America first. If that is true, it would be a gift for Samsung.

Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 is selling like hotcakes, as people are drawn to it because of its wide passport-style form factor. The foldable iPhone would have a similar form factor, and couple that with the novelty of being the first Apple foldable, it could give the Galaxy Z Fold 8 a serious run for its money.

Korean media is reporting that despite being unveiled this week, the foldable iPhone may not be released until October. Even then it may only be offered in select regions like North America because the production isn't in full swing.

Apple is reportedly finding it difficult to secure high enough yields of hinges and foldable panels. This means that it can't make enough foldable iPhone units for a wider launch right out of the gate.

If this is indeed the case, we can surely expect Apple to prioritize the release for core markets like the United States, before gradually making it available elsewhere.

Samsung will be happy with this outcome as it will enable the company to fully capitalize on the momentum the Galaxy Z Fold 8 has generated, since it currently faces no difficulties in making as many units of the device as it needs.
