Nintendo has just released a new awesome app that fans of the brand and its iconic video games are bound to love. It's called Nintendo Music and does exactly what you think it does. It's kind of like Nintendo's own Spotify app and it is now available for Galaxy devices through the Play Store.

Nintendo jams are some of the best

Nintendo Music is a new mobile app that brings to the user's fingertips a vast music library of popular Nintendo game soundtracks. Games include Super Mario and sequels, The Legend of Zelda series, Donkey Kong, and more.

Even Animal Crossing has a huge library of music inside this new Nintendo Music app, but unfortunately, at the moment, only New Horizons appears to be featured. Nintendo says more soundtracks from more video games will be added to its Music app over time.

So, no, there's no hourly music from the original Animal Crossing game for the GameCube, but it could be added later. You do get two huge playlists of New Horizons and K.K. Slider songs, the latter of which come in both “performance” and “instrumental” flavors, in case you don't like Slider's beeping voice.

The mobile app looks pretty comprehensive. There are tons of cool options, including one that lets you lengthen tracks — particularly useful for older 8-bit OSTs that usually consist of shorter loops.

There's also a section for music from games you own, a favorites list and playlists, options to download music for offline play, and more.

It all sounds pretty amazing for Nintendo fans, so what's the downside, if any? Well, there is one thing that might put some people off. The app is essentially a part of the Nintendo Switch Online service, which means you have to own a Nintendo account and an active subscription to use it.

But if you already own a Nintendo Switch with an active Online subscription, this Music app kind of feels like a nice gift that adds even more value to Nintendo's service, aside from online multiplayer access and a growing library of emulated retro games.

If you want to download Nintendo Music for your Samsung Galaxy device, you can via the Play Store. It's also available for iOS.
