Best and worst Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus trade-in offers

Samsung's brand-new Galaxy Chromebook Plus is now available in several markets, including the USA, where customers can buy it for $699 outright or $29.17 a month through a 24-month Samsung Financing agreement. As usual, the company is sweetening the deal with exclusive offers.

First, if you buy the Galaxy Chromebook Plus now, you get a $50 Instant Samsung Credit, which you can use later to buy another Galaxy device for a lower price.

Second, you can save through the trade-in program, but this time, it's a bit of a mixed bag. Samsung says you can get discounts of up to $500 when you exchange another device for the Galaxy Chromebook Plus. Although that's technically correct, it's not very realistic.

Samsung accepts laptops, phones, and tablets for trade-in when you buy the Galaxy Chromebook Plus. But, as far as we can tell, only the iPhone 15 Pro Max can secure a $500 trade-in discount for your Galaxy Chromebook Plus.

It's not worth trading-in a laptop but you can find other deals

Meanwhile, any Galaxy Book laptop you may want to trade for the Galaxy Chromebook Plus will give you a mere $14 discount. It doesn't matter if you're exchanging the Galaxy Book Ion or the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra.

Up to $14 off is all you get, so unless you have a completely broken-down laptop ready to throw away, it doesn't seem like it's worth exchanging any laptops for the new Chromebook. You might even get a better deal selling one for parts.

However, you can get a few decent trade-in deals if you exchange specific Galaxy (and Apple) phones or tablets. Below are some of the best we found.

  • Save $112 when you trade-in the Galaxy Tab S7 FE for the Galaxy Chromebook Plus.
  • Save $143 when you trade-in the Galaxy Tab S7 for the Galaxy Chromebook Plus.
  • Save $211 when you exchange the Tab S8+ for the new Samsung Chromebook.
  • Save $327 when you exchange the iPad Pro 11-inch (3rd Gen.).
  • Save $204 by trading the iPad Mini (6th Gen.).
  • Save $160 when you exchange the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.
  • Save $120 when you trade-in the Galaxy Note 10+.
  • Save $100 when you trade-in the Galaxy A73.
  • Save $70 when you exchange the Galaxy A72.
  • Save $100 when trading the iPhone 11 or iPhone XS Max.

There are many more trade-in offers available for Galaxy Chromebook Plus buyers, so if you haven't found your device on the list above, make sure you hit the buy button below and check out more details at Samsung's e-shop.

These trade-in discounts apply whether you buy the Galaxy Chromebook Plus outright or through Samsung Financing. And the $50 Instant Discount mentioned above goes to your basket at checkout regardless of whether or not you use the trade-in program.

As for a quick spec recap, the new Galaxy Chromebook Plus is equipped with a 15.6-inch FHD AMOLED display, an Intel Core 3 100U CPU, 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and 256GB eUFS storage. It has a backlit keyboard, a microSD card reader, one HDMI port, three USB ports (two of which are Type-C), and a 3.5mm headphone port. It is the thinnest and lightest Chromebook Plus ever made.
