Best Galaxy S22 features we should all be excited for

We are all eagerly waiting for Samsung to take the wraps off the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra in February 2022. The upcoming devices are expected to bring several improvements over their predecessors. In this article, we will have a look at the Galaxy S22 features that we should all be excited about.

As usual, new-generation Galaxy S series smartphones are expected to bring faster performance, newer software, and improved cameras. However, with the Galaxy S22 series, we can also expect a huge jump in performance and charging speeds.

1. Huge jump in performance with next-generation processors

The Galaxy S22 series is expected to come equipped with the Exynos 2200 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, depending on the region. No matter which region you live in, you can expect to see a huge jump in performance. Both processors are built using Samsung Foundry's 4nm process and use the latest ARM CPU cores: Cortex-X2, Cortex-A710, and Cortex-A510.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Mobile Processor

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1's GPU performance figures have already been revealed, and it is finally in the league of Apple's latest processor. Even the Exynos 2200 is expected to show a huge jump in graphics performance, thanks to the AMD RDNA2-based Mobile Radeon GPU. Both chipsets support VRS, raytracing, and HDR gaming.

Both processors could also support faster memory (LPDDR5X RAM) and faster wireless connectivity. Improved performance will not enhance gaming but also day-to-day tasks like opening apps and browsing the web. Thanks to the 4nm process, they could also offer better power efficiency.

2. Galaxy Note fans could finally get salvation with Galaxy S22 Ultra's S Pen slot

There are no signs of Samsung releasing a new Galaxy Note series smartphone. However, the company has already started bringing the best bits of the Galaxy Note lineup to the Galaxy S series. With the Galaxy S21 Ultra, the company brought support for the S Pen. However, Galaxy Note fans were still not amused because the phone lacked an S Pen slot and had curved corners.

With the Galaxy S22 Ultra, Samsung could bring a built-in S Pen slot and a Galaxy Note-like squared-off design. And the South Korean firm will likely introduce it without any battery capacity sacrifices. Going by all the past leaks, it looks like the Galaxy S22 Ultra could finally be a real Galaxy Note replacement.

Whether or not you're a Galaxy Note fan, the built-in S Pen could come in handy in a lot of ways, including accurate text selection, writing quick notes and reminders, and using the S Pen to remotely control the camera.

3. Real telephoto cameras on Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+

While the Galaxy S20 Ultra and the Galaxy S21 Ultra have real telephoto cameras, their vanilla and plus models digitally crop in from the 64MP wide-angle sensor. That's not real zoom. If reports are to be believed, the Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy S22+ could finally get real telephoto cameras with 10MP sensors and 3x optical zoom. This should improve the quality of zoomed-in images and videos with higher (and more natural) details.

The Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy S22+ are also expected to use 50MP primary cameras. These cameras could bring improved image quality across various lighting conditions and support for 8K video recording without a significant crop-in factor. While the Galaxy S22 Ultra might not come with improved camera specs, it could bring further refinements in image and video quality.

4. Faster charging speeds could end your low-battery FOMO

For the first time in years, Samsung could offer ultra-fast charging speeds on its smartphones. Rivals have gone as high as 120W fast charging, but even if Samsung offers 45W charging with the Galaxy S22 series, charging speeds could improve in the first few minutes. That's enough to end your low-battery FOMO.

The company's 25W charging tech is faster than other smartphone OEMs' 30W/33W charging. So, we expect the South Korean firm's 45W charging to be faster than 50W charging seen on rival smartphones.

The Galaxy S22 series could also feature improved display quality, better stereo speakers, better (and newer) software, and a promise of the Android 15-based One UI 7 update. What improvements do you expect from the Galaxy S22? Let us know in the comments section below.
