Samsung introduced Galaxy AI with the Galaxy S24 series. It is a suite of AI-powered features integrated into things that users use daily. With the introduction of Galaxy AI, some expected Samsung to retire Bixby or give it a new name. However, no such thing happened, and Bixby is alive and well. In fact, it has received a new design, and it is not limited to just the Galaxy S24.
Bixby gets new UI design and improvements with January 2024 update
Bixby now has a new UI design featuring a darker shade of blue mixed with lighter shades of blue and purple. This new design can be seen on the orb that appears on the screen when you summon Bixby. It also features a liquid animation inside the orb, and it looks more attractive than the older design that appeared a few years ago. This new update is available with version 3.3.53.16 of the app that is currently rolling out to Galaxy smartphones and tablets (via @a_for_albert) running Android 14-based One UI 6.0.
The new UI for Bixby is also available on Galaxy Tab devices running One UI 6.0. The pop-up menu for the voice assistant and results to your questions appear on the bottom right corner of the screen. It doesn't obstruct your view or content on the screen. Moreover, the UI design of answers fetched by Bixby also looks a bit cleaner, and so do the animations.
Samsung's official changelog says that additional functional improvements and bug fixes have been applied with the January 2024 update for Bixby. It also states that icons for Bixby Discover, Settings, and Keyboard Input have now been removed. In India, there are now three voices for Bixby to choose from. If you haven't received the Bixby update yet, you can check the Galaxy Store for the new update.
