The world's first game to support the Samsung-backed HDR10+ GAMING format—The First Descendant—was unveiled four months ago. Now, two more games have brought support for HDR10+ GAMING. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 now support the new HDR format, which means more immersive gaming on supported hardware.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 (and Phantom Liberty expansion), two of the most popular action games of 2023, now support Samsung's HDR10+ GAMING on PCs. This is a significant step up from most games that only support the basic HDR10 format for a wider dynamic range. HDR10+ GAMING adds dynamic metadata to games, offering higher brightness and contrast, along with better details in highlights (bright parts of the image) and shadows (darker parts of a frame). Since HDR10+ GAMING is royalty-free, game developers don't have to pay anyone to implement the technology in their games.
Unreal Engine recently added support for HDR10+ GAMING, so more game developers and publishers will now release games with the HDR10+ GAMING certification. The First Descendant is currently in beta and will be available in the summer of 2024 via Steam. Call of Duty: Modern
Warfare 3 will get another update to bring HDR10+ GAMING GUI in early 2024. You would need a PC with a supported GPU and a monitor that supports HDR10+. More games will support HDR10+ GAMING on PCs in the future.
Bill Mandel, the co-manager of HDR10+ Technologies LLC, said, “The use of HDR10+ technologies has grown exponentially to fully encompass a variety of platforms and providers. Now, with the availability of plug-in cards from NVIDIA, game studios and developers can also realize the full benefits of HDR10+ GAMING on certified monitors and televisions.”
