Last week, the carrier-locked version of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 had received the August 2021 security update. Now, the foldable smartphone has received the September 2021 security update. Usually, a new update is first released to the international version of the phone and then to the carrier-locked version. However, the September update hasn't been released to the international version yet.
The Galaxy Z Fold 2 has started getting a new software update on Sprint and T-Mobile networks in the US. The update comes with firmware version F916USQS2EUH7 and includes the September 2021 security patch. A few days ago, Samsung mentioned that its latest security patch fixes more than 50 privacy and security-related bugs and vulnerabilities. The update might also include device stability improvements.
If you are a Galaxy Z Fold 2 user on Sprint's or T-Mobile's network in the US, you might have received a notification of the new update. If you haven't received the update yet, you can check for it manually by navigating to Settings » Software update and clicking on Download and install. You can also flash the firmware manually after downloading the latest firmware file from our firmware database.
Samsung had launched the Galaxy Z Fold 2 last year with Android 10-based One UI 2.5. Earlier this year, the smartphone received the Android 11-based One UI 3 update. A few days ago, it received the One UI 3.1.1 update with multi-column layouts for various stock apps, Flex Mode Panel, improved multitasking on the bigger display, other minor improvements.
