Last month, Samsung started rolling out the February 2024 security update to the Galaxy A53 5G. First, the company rolled out the update to the carrier-locked version of the device for the US (SM-A536U) and then to the international variants of the phone (SM-A536B and SM-A536E). Now, it is rolling out the February 2024 security patch to the carrier-unlocked version of the Galaxy A53 5G for the US (SM-A536U1).
The latest firmware carries the Build Number A536U1UES8DXA5. The February 2024 security patch it brings, fixes 72 security issues. Unfortunately, it doesn’t offer any new features, performance improvements, or bug fixes. So far, Samsung has made the update available for devices on AT&T, Bluegrass Cellular, C-Spire, Cellular South, Comcast, Cricket, DISH, MetroPCS, T-Mobile, US Cellular, Verizon, and Xfinity Mobile.
Samsung phones keep checking for software updates periodically. So, your Galaxy A53 5G should automatically notify you when one is available. However, if it hasn’t for whatever reason, you can check for the new firmware manually by going to Settings, scrolling down to the bottom of the page, clicking on Software update, and tapping the Download an Install option. Alternatively, you can download it from our database.
Samsung launched the Galaxy A53 5G in March 2022 with Android 12 (One UI 4.0). Later that year, the company released Android 13 (One UI 5.0), and last year, it offered Android 14 (One UI 6.0) to the device. Soon, the Korean tech giant will start rolling out One UI 6.1 to the phone, and it is also eligible to get Android 15 (One UI 7.0) later this year. At the moment, the Galaxy A53 5G is on the Monthly Security Updates schedule.
