The January 2023 security patch reached the Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra last month. However, back then, the update was only available for the carrier-locked variants of the devices for the US. Today, Samsung is expanding the January 2023 security patch to the unlocked variants of the Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra.
The latest update for the Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra comes with firmware version G98XU1UES3GWA1. The update brings the January 2023 security patch that fixes over fifty security issues. Most carrier-unlocked Galaxy S20 series smartphone units in the US should get the update in the coming days.
Samsung is most likely rolling out the new software update in phases, and whenever it becomes available for your device, you will receive a notification about it. However, sometimes the phone might not alert you about the latest security update. So, checking for it manually is the best way to get updates on time. To do that, head to Settings » Software update and tap on Download and install.
While the carrier-locked and unlocked variants of the Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra have received the latest security update, the international variants of these devices are yet to get it. The Galaxy S20 lineup will get One UI 5.1, which made its debut with the Galaxy S23 series, in the next couple of months.
