A couple of days ago, Samsung released the July 2023 security update to the Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy S23. However, the update was limited to the carrier-locked versions of phones in the Galaxy S23 series. Now, the company has released a new security update to the unlocked variants of Galaxy S23 series phones.
The latest software update for the unlocked Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra comes with firmware version S91xU1UES1AWFD. The update is currently rolling out in the US on almost all major carrier networks. It is a relatively small update, and it only brings security improvements through the July 2023 security patch. The company had already released a major camera and performance improvement update to the Galaxy S23 a few days ago.
Galaxy S23 July 2023 security update: How to install?
If you have an unlocked Galaxy S23 series phone in the US, you can now check for the new update. You can do that by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also download the new firmware version from our firmware database and flash it manually using a Windows PC and Samsung's Odin tool.
Samsung launched the Galaxy S23 series earlier this year, and it has been a massive hit worldwide. All the phones in the lineup offer excellent performance and battery life, especially compared to the dismal show that we saw with the Galaxy S20 and the Galaxy S22. The phones in the lineup came with Android 13 onboard and are promised to get four major Android OS updates, starting with Android 14 later this year.
