galaxy note 8 review 11
You wouldn't think the Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S8 would receive any firmware updates anymore. The Galaxy Note series itself has been discontinued for quite a while now.
However, it has happened in the past that an update is sent out for unsupported devices to fix a bug or vulnerability. One such updating is being rolled out widely for these devices.
Samsung had initially released this update for the Galaxy Note 8 and the Galaxy S8 in the United States a few months ago.
The release was limited to the country at that time, but it appears that Samsung is now rolling it out to other countries across the globe. The Galaxy S8 is receiving firmware version G950FXXUCDZE7 while N950FXXUGDZEA is available for the Galaxy Note 8.
If you still have either of the two still kicking around, don't keep your fingers crossed for any new features. It retains the Android OS version and the April 2021 security patch for the devices.
The changelog doesn't say what the update brings, just that the “device behavior has been improved.” The update itself weighs in around 420.37MB.
You can go ahead and check to see if the update is available for your Galaxy S8 or Galaxy Note 8 through the Software update menu in the Settings app.
