According to a new report, YouTube Music is officially getting the ‘Create a radio' feature on Android and iOS. Using the ‘Create a radio' feature, YouTube Music users can create their custom stations based on their favorite tracks or artists. Previously, YouTube Music would start a radio when the currently selected song ended. Details of the next song were shown in the ‘Up Next' section. There was also an option to save the radio as a regular playlist.
With the dedicated ‘Create a radio' feature, users can create their custom radio stations from scratch. YouTube Music users can combine key building blocks such as their favorite artists, music genres, or the style of music, for example. After scrolling down on the YouTube Music homepage, you will find the ‘Create a radio' feature. Here, you will see a list of artists, and you can select up to 30 artists to add variety to your radio station.
YouTube Music radio gets named after the selected artists or characteristics
As per 9To5Google, once you have selected the artists to add to your YouTube Music radio station, then you can choose among options such as Artists variety, Song selection (Familiar, Blend, or Discover) which will help them have the radio play only the artists they have selected or a much broader set of artists. Finally, there is a Filter option for Popular, Deep Cuts, New Releases, Pump-Up, Chill, Upbeat, Downbeat, and Focus.
Sometimes, YouTube Music throws an error message saying “No songs to play” if the selected combination doesn't produce any result. After completing the process, you will always get an updated radio using the new layout. The playlist or radio station will be named after the artists or features of the playlist. It looks pretty random when you have selected multiple artists, though. You can save the radio by hitting the ‘Add to library' button.
