While a lot of its efforts in early December were spent on getting the One UI 7.0 beta program off the ground, Samsung also find time to release the latest security update to some Galaxy devices. As of December 9, the update is available for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy Z Flip 6.
For the two foldables, the December 2024 security update is available in Korea. The update will hopefully make its way to more countries soon, in addition to other Galaxy smartphones. However, One UI 7.0 will likely continue to take up a lot of Samsung's resources in the coming weeks and the rollout of the monthly security update may take a backseat as a result.
The December 2024 security patch contains fixes for one critical and several high-risk security flaws in the Android OS. It also includes fixes for eight vulnerabilities that pose a risk only to Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
Furthermore, it fixes two vulnerabilities affecting certain Exynos chips and modems. The full list includes the Exynos 9820, 9825, 980, 990, 850, 1080, 2100, 1280, 2200, 1330, 1380, 1480, 2400, 9110, W920, W930, W1000, Modem 5123, and Modem 5300.
To check for updates on your Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6 or any other Galaxy device, open the Settings app and navigate to the Software update menu. Here, tap the Download and install button. You can also download firmware for Galaxy smartphones and tablets in the SamMobile firmware archive.
