Don’t expect the good Samsung mid-range stuff in the US in 2025

While not yet official, you can bet that Samsung has a new Galaxy A lineup on its way for 2025. From cheapest to priciest, the upcoming A series should consist of the Galaxy A26, the Galaxy A36, and the Galaxy A56. With one exception, all three models should hit the global market this year. Unfortunately, the Galaxy A56 might not be released stateside.

Samsung has yet to announce these three devices, and the company might surprise us still. However, given recent events (or lack thereof), Samsung will probably avoid bringing the Galaxy A56 to prospective customers in the USA. We hope that won't be the case, as the Galaxy A56 is bound to become a decent value proposition, but our hopes might be in vain.

As far as we can tell, there is no evidence that the Galaxy A56 is headed for the US market — at least, not as of this writing. We can't see any trace of US-based firmware development for the A56 either.

More importantly, the fact that Samsung decided against releasing the Galaxy A55 stateside in 2024 speaks volumes. And we don't see the company wanting to change its mind and steer the A series in a different direction in 2025.

Last year, Samsung confirmed early on that the Galaxy A55 would not be coming to the USA. The company might repeat history and follow the same strategy for the upcoming A56 this year.

The reason? Only Samsung knows, but many have theorized that the company is trying to bank on Fan Edition smartphones. US pricing differs from other markets, and Fan Edition phones are often cheaper stateside compared to other regions. They're pretty unbeatable.

Story continues after the video

For US customers, the Galaxy S24 FE — released in October — is the go-to value Samsung phone that blends upper mid-range pricing with high-end characteristics. And considering its entry-level price of $649 whenever it isn't discounted, Samsung might believe that releasing the Galaxy A56 could upset the balance and lead to fewer FE sales. Harsh as it may sound, it's hard to argue with that logic.

We will keep you up to speed if we find any evidence of the Galaxy A56 coming to the USA, but for now, we recommend you don't get your hopes up.
