Samsung launched its first object tracker−Galaxy SmartTag—in early 2021. Even two years after its debut, there has been no updated version of the device from the company. However, we have some information that gives us a fairer idea of when we should expect a newer version of the Galaxy SmartTag.
Second-generation Galaxy SmartTag could debut alongside Galaxy Z Flip 5
According to our information, Samsung will launch the second-generation Galaxy SmartTag lineup in Q3 2023. While we don't know what improvements Samsung will bring with its next-generation object trackers, the most logical things to improve would be their wireless range, beeper volume, and enhanced security measures to resist unauthorized tracking.
The upcoming Galaxy SmartTag would probably be unveiled alongside Samsung's next-generation wearable devices, including the Galaxy Buds 3 and the Galaxy Watch 6. During the same event, the South Korean firm could unveil its next-generation foldable smartphones: Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5.
No other company has been as successful as Apple in sales in the object tracker segment. While Samsung launched two object trackers, the company hasn't seen much traction among consumers. Even Google is reportedly planning to bring its own object trackers.
