The Galaxy Note 20 should've had Expert RAW by now, but the original schedule had to be redrawn due to technical issues. The release of Expert RAW got delayed to H2 2022, and now the company reconfirmed that the Galaxy Note 20 should get access to Expert RAW by the end of September.
Presumably, once it launches, Expert RAW will be available exclusively for the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra model, as the standard Galaxy Note 20 variant lacks the necessary camera hardware to make use of the app's pro-grade photography tools.
In any case, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra users should keep in mind that availability will differ by market, which probably means that South Korean customers will be the first to gain access to Expert RAW on the S Pen flagship.
In addition to reconfirming availability plans for the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Samsung's Community Manager also touched on the evolution of Expert RAW in the foreseeable future.
According to the recent posts by Samsung's Expert RAW moderator, the development team is also working on new expert-level shooting functions. What they'll bring to the table is unclear, but Samsung aims to release these unspecified Expert RAW advanced features in October.
The latest Expert RAW update added support for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and introduced a couple of new tools, including Custom Presets, and further improved image quality in low-light conditions.
The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is the last official Galaxy Note smartphone from Samsung. The series now lives on through the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The addition of Expert RAW will breathe more life into the aging Galaxy Note 20 Ultra flagship and, hopefully, give users more reasons to keep their S Pen devices for a while longer.
