Meta is rolling out a host of new features to the Facebook app. These new features are mainly inclined toward improving video content consumption on Facebook. It includes a new Video tab for easier access, an improved video editing tool, the ability to upload HDR videos, and more. Facebook is getting a bunch of video-related features because it believes that videos have been one of the core features of the platform since as early as 2007.
Speaking of new features, the new Video tab replaces the old Watch tab. Here, users will find it easier and more convenient to find and watch videos on Facebook. The new Video tab will appear on the shortcut bar. Under this new tab, users can find all video content on Facebook, including Reels, long-form videos, and live content. The Facebook Video tab will be at the top of the Android app and at the bottom of the iOS app.
Video editing features are also getting major improvements. Users can now add music, text, audio, and more to their Reels. This feature will also be available on Meta Business Suite for both Reels and video content on the Feed. Facebook users can also now adjust the speed of the video, reverse it or replace the clips in their videos.
With the HDR upload option, users can upload high-quality videos right from their smartphones. This also supports high-quality playback in HDR. Moreover, Facebook users can now watch Instagram Reels on Facebook and leave comments without switching apps. This will be possible only if the user has linked both their Facebook and Instagram accounts through the Accounts Center.
