There have been rumors for some months now that Elon Musk has a new AI or Artificial Intelligence venture in the pipeline. It was confirmed recently that this venture will be called xAI. No surprises there, as even Twitter has been rebranded to X after Musk bought the company and took it private.

Elon Musk has now confirmed that the first model of his new AI venture is going to be made available to select users starting today, November 4. The announcement follows Musk's speech at the AI Safety Summit in the United Kingdom this week.

Grok will be made available to more users in the near future

Called Grok, xAI's first model is similar to other AI chatbots like ChatGPT. However, in typical Musk fashion, the serial entrepreneur claims that Grok “is the best that currently exists” in some important respects.

Like ChatGPT, Grok can browse the internet to provide latest information about specific topics. Musk has also confirmed that Grok will have “real-time” access to information shared on X, which he says is a “massive advantage” over other models.

Musk has also revealed on X that Grok is designed to have a little humor in its responses, this is what's potentially going to set its answers apart from similar AI chatbots from the likes of OpenAI, Microsoft, Google, Snap, Meta, etc.

While xAI's first AI model has only been released for a “select group” today, Musk has confirmed that as soon as Grok is out of early beta, it's going to be available to all X Premium+ subscribers.
